A new Class 9 label has been implemented by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and adopted by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).

While very similar in looks, the new label eliminates the horizontal line across the middle of the label.

America has decided to make the official adoption of this label for international shipments effective November 1, 2014. Therefore, on that date, all Class 9 shipments travelling internationally must have the new label affixed by the shipper, and we will be unable to accept shipments with improper labels. This includes shipments originating in the US to international points as well as shipments accepted in non-US locations.

Key Points

  • The new label eliminates the horizontal line across the middle of the label
  • Deadline for adoption is November 1, 2014
