Occupational First Aid Training

The purpose of this training course is to equip attendees with the knowledge, skill and competence to provide and co-ordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007. 

Course Content

Modules covered during the course include:

  • First aid in the workplace
  • Patient assessment
  • Respiratory emergencies
  • Cardiac first response
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Altered levels of consciousness
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Burns and scalds, chemicals, poison, electric shock

Assessment and Qualification

All attendees will undertake an examination in accordance with the FETAC Level 5 standard by an independent examiner.  Successful completion of the course and prescribed examination results in the issue of a letter of completion for each candidate by DCM Compliance . DCM Compliance will then submit the successful candidate details to the FETAC for a certificate at Level 5. During this period, the letter of completion will be accepted by the Health and Safety Authority and the Occupational First Aid Assessment Agent as proof of course completion.

Course Duration

The full occupational first aid course for attendees who were not previously qualified or whose qualification has lapsed, consists of 3 full day’s (24 hours) training.

The refresher course for currently qualified attendees who wish to extend their qualification for a further 2 years consist of 1 full day’s (8 hours) training.

Participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing when attending this course due to the practical elements of the programme.
